Is it weird to give a girl flowers you don't know well, but like, for Valentine's?

I want to give this girl flowers for Valentine%26#039;s day, but we never really talked, and don%26#039;t know each other well. We have seen each other in class, though, just don%26#039;t know if she%26#039;ll know who I am. Would this be weird or seem stalker-like?

Is it weird to give a girl flowers you don%26#039;t know well, but like, for Valentine%26#039;s?
Go right ahead. I think thats really sweet! Good luck!
Reply:No, i think that would be telling her you are interested its valetines day! lifes all about taking risks you dont live forever!! trust me..by the way i am a girl.
Reply:give her a rose and ask her out.. dont just send them to her mysteriously. and dont just leave them at her locker or something. You need to go and hand them to her, and say %26quot;hey would like you to get something to eat something?%26quot;
Reply:I think it would be a kind %26amp; flattering gesture as long as she hasn%26#039;t given you any impression prior that she would feel you were being intrusive or disrespecting her wishesI (i.e. if she%26#039;s mentioned she is involved w/ someone else or has made it clear she%26#039;s not interested). Don%26#039;t give her red roses though. Red roses represent love(for more of a serious type relationship, however tulips, carnations,lily%26#039;s any of those would be fine. Even a nice blend of a varity of fowers w/ different colors would be appropriate. Go for it.
Reply:awww!

i think that is cute go 4 it
Reply:Since you don%26#039;t know her very well it IS very freaky. If it was a close friend or GF it wouldn%26#039;t be weird though.
Reply:No way. This would be a GREAT way to let her know that you are interested in a super cute way that would catch her eye...but try to talk to her before v-day and introduce yourself or when the card for the flowers say from ___, she will be like, who the heck is that? Good luck!

Why do plants and flowers grown next to a well-head die so easily?

My friend%26#039;s yard supports plants and flowers very well. However, when planted near the well-head they die off like nothing.

Why do plants and flowers grown next to a well-head die so easily?
Probably because of the residues that are leached into the soil by the metals/coatings/oils on the metal casing. There is probably a reaction between the casing and the water and other minerals/acids in the soil that are not healthy for the plants.
Reply:If the well was recently drilled there is probably a high concentration of rock dust flushed out during the process. This would lack humus and a blend of soluble stuff found in the nearby soil.

the condition should improve over time or could be improved with a few bags of topsoil from the garden shop.

If you are talking about an oil well and not a water well, there could be a temperature problem as well as contamination. The temperature of the material from deep down is quite a bit warmer than the soil at the surface. The temperature of the soil near the well may just be too hot. The heat would also cause drying of the soil.
Reply:Even if there%26#039;s no leaching, the soil over the casing might not be deep enough to support a root system

.
Reply:not enough room for roots
Reply:If the well head has any copper material in it, it will kill everything that touches it. Also, you probably have a high concentration of heavy metal that is adverse for plant health.

You can solve this problem by putting a physical barrier between the well, to about a depth of 12-18 inches or so, and try planting again....

Reply:change it to another language with different symbols maybe
Reply:I want to know the answer as well.
Reply:OK, I think I understand what you%26#039;re asking.

The font you are using looks to be Arial. So you are getting hearts from opening character map (Start - Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Character Map) and copying the heart symbol, or copying it from another place.

Arial doesn%26#039;t have flowers. And even if you bought a font made up of flowers, your friends might not have that font, so it would look like garbage when sent to them.

Wingdings2 has a few characters that look a little like flowers. That;s about the best you can do.

What types of flowers do well in the shade?

I would like to plant some down my walk way outside... unfortunately, the sun only shines in that area for a short time during the day. Can you tell me some flowers that can still grow well in that area?

What types of flowers do well in the shade?
I%26#039;m in CNY, too(Oswego Co.). For small annual flowers that do fine in the shade I grow impatiens for constant color. They become really full in our summers here and They reseed really well and fill in why perennials are between bloom. I also mix in small dahlias, but they do better with more light.

For perennials I have hosta, toadlilies, Chinese lantern, lily of the valley, Arum Italicum, Jack-in-the-pulpit, Naked lady lily, several types of ferns, lady%26#039;s mantle, primroses, Solomon%26#039;s seal and a few others. These all do good in our climate and in the shade, but they don%26#039;t supply constant color and some tend to be a bit large so might not be what you are looking for.

Depending on what you are looking for you could do a mix of annuals and perennials. When winter finally gives up you can find tons of them at the Regional Market in Syracuse, or at a number of local nurseries. I love Hafner%26#039;s Greenhouses in Liverpool for their huge variety, good plants, and reasonable prices.
Reply:Hardy perennial flowers that do well in part shade to shade include:

Actaea spp. (Bugbane)

Alchemilla mollis (Lady’s Mantle)

Astilbe

Aquilegia (Columbine)

Begonia grandis (Hardy Begonia)

Bergenia (Pigsqueak)

Brunnera (Bugloss)

Dicentra (Bleeding Heart)

Epimedium (Bishop%26#039;s Hat)

Helleborus (Hellebore)

Hosta

Iris cristata (Crested Iris)

Lamium maculatum (Spotted Deadnettle)

Phlox divaricata (Woodland Phlox)

Primula (Primrose)

Pulmonaria (Leadwort)

Tiarella (Foam Flower)

Tricyrtis (Toad Lily)

Viola (Violet)

Annual flowers that do well in part shade to shade and bloom all summer include:

Impatiens

Begonia -- including tuberous, angel wing and fibrous rooted begonias

Nicotiana (Flowering Tobacco)

Torenia (Wishbone Flower)

Viola

(Take a look at these flowers and check thier water and soil needs to make sure the ones you choose match the area you are putting them in and your schedule too (alot of care, little care, drought tolerant and when and how long they bloom)
Reply:You are lucky, because there are many annuals that love your summer climate! See the link for the complete shade list with details about each:
Reply:The easiest and showiest are impatiens. They are annuals and come in loads of colors and hate the sun and spread beautifully. There are some spring perennials that do nicely in the shade too like astilbe and bleeding heart. If you want greenery, aloe plants, any kind of hostas and ferns are great.
Reply:Impatiens do very well in the shade and there are a variety of colors you can choose from. You don%26#039;t say what your climate is like, but if it%26#039;s dry or hot, they do have to be watered daily.
Reply:The best plants for the more heavily shaded areas to partially shaded are those found in the woods in their native habitat, such as evergreen groundcovers like Japanese spurge (Pachysandra terminalis) and Periwinkle, %26amp; other groundcovers such as wild Violets, bluebells, Lilies of the Valley, %26amp; Wild Ginger.

Variegated Solomon%26#039;s seal, Polygonatum odoratum %26#039;Variegatum%26#039; has foliage with an airbrushed variegation that is irresistible. It looks nice among densely textured Hostas and multistained Coral Bells (Heuchera), and their stature gives weight to finely dissected Bleeding Hearts (Dicentras) and ground-hugging Asarums. But the early spring flowers are far from subtle, particularly massed, when hundred of creamy bells march two by two along the leaves.

You can%26#039;t go wrong with %26#039;King of Hearts%26#039; Bleeding Heart which blooms from late spring into fall. It will not go dormant in midsummer(like some other types) as long as the soil is kept moist. It looks great next to Hostas:

Good luck! Hope this helps.
Reply:Begonias
Reply:Orchids! -The Dendrobium emma white and Phalaenopsis cool breeze are good choices.

Contrary to popular belief that these plants need %26quot;full sun%26quot;, they actually do not; providing adequate humidity and diffused light for a minumum of 10 hours is key to success.

Another plus- flowers that lasts for weeks!

Another plant to consider would be the Clerodendrum (Bleeding heart vine) which needs a brightly lit spot away from direct sunlight.

Happy gardening!

What kind of flowers grow well in Arkansas???

Hi, I am doing a Girl Scout Silver Award Project and I am planting a garden for our Girl Scout Hut. I need to know what flowers grow well in Arkansas so I can make sure they live. So please help me if you can. Anything will help. Thank You!

What kind of flowers grow well in Arkansas???
This is going to sound like cheating but it%26#039;s true. I live in Arkansas and plant numerous annuals and perrenials each year. The only thing I%26#039;ve had problems with are those things not tolerant of the amount of heat they%26#039;ll get here. (Tulips are very hard as are the delicate flowers because of the heavy storms we get. They%26#039;ll break or get pummelled by heavy rain or winds. ) We%26#039;re in the SW part so we are in a drought. The mountainous areas will get more rain. To pick flowers for your area, just go to a local nursery or wal-mart. They%26#039;ll sell things indigenous to the area that will thrive.
Reply:Just about all flowers grow well here.

Good Luck
Reply:where do you live in Arkansas? (I%26#039;m in fort smith)

I don%26#039;t know what flowers grow well, but I know some good people to ask here in ft smith.

What type of flowers grow well with limited light?

The front of my house has two large trees provinding shade at least 90% of the day. I would like to do a small window box, and hope to grow flowers that do well in that environment

What type of flowers grow well with limited light?
Hosta would be too big for a small window box.

They would look awful.

Treat the window box with shade-tolerant anuals

as well as perennials.

Look at some of these excellent choices and mix them up

for a few seasons of color.

%26quot;forget-me-not%26quot;

%26quot;primrose%26quot;

%26quot;fuchsia%26quot;

%26quot;begonia%26quot;

and don%26#039;t forget %26quot;impatiens%26quot;

Good Luck!!
Reply:whoa- alot. Go to the Ohio State University Extension Fact Sheet site and click on %26quot;Herbaceous Ornamentals for Shade.
Reply:Any of the Hoster family will enjoy the shade but you must not let the soil become dry. They have lovely foliage and quite a few varieties. Many of the ericaceous or peat loving shrubs such as Camelias, Rhodedendrons and Azaleas come in dwarf form and have beautiful flowers. Many flowers will grow out of direct sunlight although yhey may not thrive as well as those with more light. Go to a garden centre and look at the labels on the plants. Most will tell you what kind of environment they like.
Reply:You should first state what zone you live in. No sun or part sun? No sun, Hostas for sure, also columbine, pulminaria, some types of phlox, ferns do well with no/little sun. Go to a gardening center near where you live and ask. I always get help when I ask. All these are perenials and will come back every year and multiply so you can give them as gifts, but I prefer to garden in the ground. Oops, now I see you want them in a planter - the columbine have pretty assorted shaped flowers with many different colors. When the flowers seed, bend over and shake the dry pods and they will reseed. Don%26#039;t have to keep buying flowers.
Reply:NOT MARIJUANA!!! But bamboo and philodendron

"Get Well" Flowers a Good Idea?

Do Larkspur or Delphim Flowers do well in Los Angeles?

I bought seeds for these flowers.. They both state zones 3-8. I am in zone 10.. Does anyone grow these flowers in Southern California? How well do they do?

Do Larkspur or Delphim Flowers do well in Los Angeles?
it should not be bad to grow them but because of the heat of the sun and weather you will need to plant them in a partly shaded area (however the sun does need to be on them at some point thru the day, just not all day.

also you need to have a very ventilated soil and you need to water them constantly or they will dry up and die.
Reply:Hello -

Ive grown Delphinium for a few years; and have seen Larkspur often here in Los Angeles. I am also in Zone 10 (Santa Monica/Bev Hills area). You do have some challenges - mostly being heat and the dryness. But, I agree with the other poster - if you can keep the plants on a cooler side of a building or in very partial shade, then the plants will do better. Just make sure they never dry out - yet, keep from ever becoming waterlogged. Watch out for the excessive slugs/snails around here. And, keep the flowers cut off once they are done blooming.

Chris
Reply:I thought everything grew in Southern Cal!! It might just be too hot in your area, but you can %26#039;micro-climatize%26#039; little areas in your yard. If you have a lot of stuff growing already and shady spots that would mimick cooler temperature zones you might be able to grow them. Call a nursery in your town and ask them what you need to do to grow them.

What are the best bedding plants/flowers that do well in shady area%26#039;s?
Flowering plants which do well for me: impatiens, astilbe, bleeding heart, foxglove, columbine, primroses, evening primroses

Foliage plants: hostas, ferns, coleus- some of these are as showy if not more than the flowering ones.

Jacob%26#039;s Ladder (I have a beautiful variegated variety called Brise d%26#039;Anjou) is an example of both foliage and flowering plant.

Ground cover: Ivy and vinca (with mauve flowers) is what I grow in the Bay Area in CA. Also, green moss (Scotch/ Irish), baby%26#039;s tears, etc.

All these require different levels of shade and moisture, so check what would work for your garden site and geographic area.
Reply:Grow inpatients. They come in many colors and are a hardy plant
Reply:Hosta and there are many kinds and sizes. I had a deck that got no sun but the hosta grew to be huge. I had about 6-8 different variety and always got comments.
Reply:Impatiens, begonias, hostas, lenten rose (hellebores), foxglove, bleeding hearts, vinca minor, some hydrangeas.

Bleeding hearts ~ Pink and white

Hosta ~ Blue and white

Azalea, Dwarf Red Hardy ~ Red

Hydrangea ~ Red, blue, white, pink, yellow

Toad lily ~ Blue spotted with brown/red

~ Pink spotted with Yellow/brown

Lily of the Valley ~ Pink and white

That should get you started!!
Reply:Hostas! They come in solid and variegated colors. They do need slightly richer soil than is found in most shady areas, so be sure to augment your soil with manure or compost.
Reply:Impatients,do very well in shady areas. You can get them in a load of colors. They grow very fast.

What kind of flowers float well with tea light candles?

I want to float candles and flowers for my centerpieces. Does anyone know what kinds of flowers work well? These are the ones I%26#039;m thinking of...

Asiatic Lilies

Asters

Chrysanthemums

Dahlias

What kind of flowers float well with tea light candles?
go with white Asiatic lilies

very pristine and elegant looking

they will hold up well in any temperature

they are made for water so you don%26#039;t run the risk of them being ruined if the table gets jostled, etc.

perfect for a wedding

and congratulations on your marriage by the way

best of luck

Reply:Any flower that has a wide base and is flat at the base. For example roses won%26#039;t do, Daises and Magnolias,Maple Leaves sprayed with glitter etc will.

Even fake water lilies work well to.
Reply:roses or daisies i like all kinds of flowers..good luck on choosing
Reply:like what secret agt said, anything with wide base will work. lily will sure work but maybe you can try with orchids as i think orchids are exotic
Reply:Gerberas are perfect!
Reply:With the suggestions you give, I%26#039;m thinking you are planning a fall wedding....how about sunflowers, or orchids? Maybe even gerbera daisies.

If you are thinking chrysanthemums why not look in to the %26#039;football%26#039; mums that are bigger and can be sprayed with clear adhesive and clear/silver/gold glitter that will pick up the glow from the tea lights and sparkle a little.

For something unusual, have a grouping of flowers %26#039;handtied%26#039; and cut flat across the bottom. Put them in a flat container (maybe a square dish?) with shallow water, not enough that they will %26#039;float%26#039; but enough that you can still float the tea lights. The play of light and shadow on the flowers as the lights move will be awesome...maybe add some clear glitter to the stems too. Make sure that they are cut long enough to avoid the flame and that the florist uses a non-flammable wrap to avoid an ugly situation.
Reply:Those flowers would be beautiful, especially if you are going for alot of color! A couple of other flowers I have seen floating with candles are water lilies and magnolias.

Why not go to a local florist and buy a sample of each of the flowers you like, and see what they look like? It wouldn%26#039;t have to be fancy, just to see if they float how you want them too. Just think of it as sort of a test run!

Best of luck to you!
Reply:Water lillies, magnolias.
Reply:maybe a mini rose or lilly. that would look good with the tea candle.

Insted of flowers as get well in hospital for my grandma (she just had a stroke)?

while vacationing in florida with family my nanny (grandmother) had a stroke and is in the hospital - i am very close with her and i miss her terribly and just want her back home and healthy!

i want to send her something to let her know i miss her so much and i wish her to get well soon!!! shes not a huge fan of flowers - what else can i send her and from where (website) can i do it from - if its flowers then fine - but suggest something else?

Insted of flowers as get well in hospital for my grandma (she just had a stroke)?
Im a grandma, and here are my suggestions....Is she able to see well? Hear well? Since you might not be able to be there in person, send her apicture of you, a small hand held recorder with headset, and a tape of you talking to her. Tell her about your favorite memories, and your need to make more memories with her. Read scriptures, or poetry , or inspirational messages to her. Hearing your voice and seeing your face will be a big help, give her the encouragement she needs to fight this battle, and win her way back. Let her know you are there for her, and then every so often, send a new tape.

Or if this just isnt your %26quot;style%26quot; why not a book, or music or just a photo collage of you??

.A grandmas biggest fear is not being remembered or loved, and needed. I wish you both the best...

What flowers grow well on the northside of a house?

I live in Oregon and just moved into a new house. I%26#039;m planning on planting some flowers in the yard but most of my options are for the north side of the house. Is anyone an expert on which flowers and ground cover will do well without receiving direct sunlight?

Thank you.

What flowers grow well on the northside of a house?
I had great results with

hosta, caladiums , wax leaf begonias, crystal palace lobelia

on the north side of my house

it stopped traffic

also try

azaleas, rhododendrons, taxus, boxwood ..for shrubs in that location.
Reply:Hostas are great for shady areas around your house! I concur with Fluffy the Wonderdog on that point...
Reply:Not knowing which side of Oregon you are in makes it a little harder. But the plants Native to the forest usually do best in low light and lots of moisture. Like huckleberrys, Erythronium, the %26#039;trout lily%26#039; and Rhododendrons and azaleas.

Impatiens and English lawn daisies did well for me, and there is alway the annual planting of tulips and other bulbs. Hostas, solomon%26#039;s seal, ...too long a list....

The native to redwood forest plants, like Viola sempervirens, and Oxalis, make a nice space.

Avoid the periwinkle. It gets really weedy and attracts the slugs and snails you will learn to hate.
Reply:Periwinkle makes a good low sun groundcover,
Reply:Coleus does well in low sunlight areas. So do impatiens and hostas, daylilies and astilbe.

Reply:Moss.
Reply:Many plants do their best with morning sun and afternoon shade. If you have areas that at least will be getting some light, even if indirect, you can still have flowering plants. Make sure you look up species AND cultivars when researching. Some cultivars will do much better without direct sun. Although you can have alot to choose from for foliage, you probably want flowering plants. There are some Hydrangea hybrids that prefer shade or indirect sun. Dave%26#039;sGarden.com is an excellent site for looking up Genus, species, and cultivar or hybrid. If you plant Periwinkle(Vinca Minor) you will have some flowers, but for full flowering of Vinca, you need sun. I looked it up and most Iris species will do well in partial shade as well, they have beautiful foliage when they are not blooming as well as ability to naturalize and spread.

What flowers grow well indoors @ during the winter?

Are there any flowers that grow well indoors? It%26#039;s difficult to grow them outside during the winter season, so I would like to plant flowers I can start out by growing indoors then when the weather gets better it will grow outside.

What flowers grow well indoors @ during the winter?
i would definely reccomend amarillys, they are big bulbs, they have beautiful flowers, and you can gro them inside in the winter from october to the end of april,in fact i have one in my house wich i planted a week ago and is staring to came out, they take from 6 to10 weeks to bloom, this is more like an indoor plant
Reply:vines are good indoor plants.i have several vines,cactus%26#039;s,african violets, and bamboo plants - ivy too. they all do well in doors.
Reply:most flowering plants need more light than you can get indoors without special grow lights. violets will but I find them picky about water, temp..ect. vines or foliage are a better bet for indoors
Reply:I keep my geraniums blooming all year round they are outside all summer and come in the house in the fall I allso have coleus but when they start blooming I take the buds off (when the plant starts blooming the plant thinks it is the end of it%26#039;s season so after it starts blooming it will die) so I enjoy the plant for the great colors.

Good flowers that live well in a pot?

To start off, I live in Minnesota. Today we had a beautiful day, it was atleast 75 degrees and sunny. But anyway, I wanted to plant some sort flower in a fairly large pot to keep in my room. I can give it sunlight (my room faces the sun and it is always sunny!). So what are some pretty flowers that live well in these conditions?

Good flowers that live well in a pot?
I have a goldfish plant that blooms almost constantly in the sun. African violets bloom almost continuously, but I wouldn%26#039;t put them in a large pot. Gerbera daisies are pretty and will probably last a couple of months.
Reply:Geraniums do well both indoors and out. Just be sure to remove any dead flowers before they go to seed.
Reply:African violets.

It is difficult to grow outdoor plants indoors. I have tried it and they just don%26#039;t seem to get enough sun.

And yes, it is a beautiful day and we should be out enjoying it. Not sitting at a computer. This could be the last day of summer without mosquitoes here in Minnesota.
Reply:Angel wing Begonia loves bright light is easy to grow and can with good care live over 20 years.Sounds like you have the right conditions for this plant, they can get large but can be pinched back any time and bloom almost continuously. They do take a short rest in winter.Come in reds, pinks and white blooms.
Reply:hi, marguerit and pink rose are very beautiful andromantic and sprightly flowers.

What flowers would go really well with dark green bridesmaid dresses?

My dress isnt white but it isnt ivory at the same time its sort of in between. So I dont think i could have white flowers but pretty much any colour would go well with my dress. I really love bouquets with a lot of green foliage but I just have no idea what flowers (colour and type) would go well with the girls dresses. I originally thought cream but I%26#039;m getting married in spring in the gardens and I%26#039;d like some colour in there (even if its just a little bit) Maybe creams, soft pinks? If you have any pics or know the links to some bouquets that would match that would be fantastic! Help!

Reply:White, cream, and yellow. Don%26#039;t worry about the whites and creams matching your dress exactly - they rarely do! In my honest opinion, yellow goes with dark green better than pink.

Flowers that will work well in Tx heat and sun???

can someone give me some ideas on some pretty , colorful, flowers i cn use in a front flower bed that will wk well with the heat and sun?

Flowers that will work well in Tx heat and sun???
Periwinkles are beautiful and thrive in full sun. Also, try Mexican heather. See the link below for tips to growing Periwinkles.
Reply:marigolds resist the heat pretty well
Reply:Begonias work really well. There are kinds for shade, and kinds for sun.
Reply:This what I did since I live in NC and it is getting hotter every year.I got so tired Of spending Hundreds of dollars planting flowers then the sun cooks them I went to wal mart and both fake flowers that%26#039;s about the cheapest place I know of now my flower beds look so nice and colourful and I don%26#039;t have to water or feed them and every 2 weeks I spray amoral on them and good as new plus I get 5 years out of them before they lose there colors.
Reply:Plants of the Portulaca genus do really well in hot full sun, especially if the soil is dry and sandy (although they do need some water occasionally!). Portulaca grandiflora (Moss Rose, Sun Plant) is an annual (or perennial in frost-free climates) which has green succulent leaves and spectacular flowers in pinks, yellows, reds, white, orange etc. Sow seed in Spring where you want it to flower and allow about 6 inches between plants. Full sun is best as their flowers only open when the sun shines on them.

Try also Portulaca oleracea (also known as Purslane). Comes in green or golden varieties. Likes the same conditions as Portulaca grandiflora, but has larger leaves and tiny yellow flowers. However, you can eat this one: young leaves are tasty in salads (crisp, juicy, slightly acidic) and you can cook them too (they contain mucilage so they cook down like okra, sort of thick and gummy). Seeds of Portulaca easily available at garden centres, nurseries or mail order (try Ebay too!).

As well as these, try almost any desert plant or succulent plant as these are adapted to hot, sunny dry locations. Many have spectacular flowers too.

What flowers can grow well in a rock filled flower bed?

I want to make a rock filled garden but i wanted to plant flowers in it also. what flowers do well in rock gardens?

What flowers can grow well in a rock filled flower bed?
I would say, first plant the flowers and then arrange the rocks after the flowers are big enough. Or, if yr. not willing to wait this long, i would choose more large, sturdy flowers perhaps some grown from bulbs, like tulips or lilies. Rose bushes would definitely do as theyre already above the ground surface, but then all the foliage might cover up your rock display. maybe you should just get some of the flowers that are already grown that come in the little six packs and plant them, then place your rocks around them.
Reply:Add moss rose to the list.
Reply:Succulents like sedum and stonecrop, they do well in stony dry soil.
Reply:The plants that tolerate the reflected heat of rock or gravel mulch are generally known as Mediterranean plants. Many herbs are Mediterranean, like Rosemary, Thyme and Lavender. There are shrubs like Vitex and Cistus, and trees like Olive and Fig and that are considered Mediterranean as well. One warning, though: the soil needs to be well-drained, with sharp sand mixed in for the Mediterraneans to survive, especially if you live where rains can be plentiful, even if not that way every single year. In poorly-drained clay soils they will slowly, or quickly, decline and finally die.

What flowers will do well in hanging pots in the shade?

I live in Southern WV. I am currently living in a rented home and last year, I tried to hang flowers from beams around my porch... but, they didn%26#039;t fair so well. I had Impatiens, who seemed to yellow when I put them in the sun and then wouldn%26#039;t bloom when I put them in the shade. I%26#039;m a very novice gardener and just in my early twenties... so, I am just trying to look for a way to spruce up the place. I%26#039;m not allowed to actually dig into the ground and everything I grow and tend to has to be in pots. The reason the flowers are in the shade is because there is an awning over my porch. They would receive some sun, but not direct. I would like a flower that blooms, but could go for something that is all green as well.

We have several nurseries around; then the commercialized places such as Lowe%26#039;s, Wal*Mart, etc. When I asked at the nurseries, I was told the person that grows them wasn%26#039;t usually around and they didn%26#039;t know.

Thanks in advance!

What flowers will do well in hanging pots in the shade?
Flowers that do well in pots in the shade: begonias, impatiens, %26amp; fuschia. Swedish ivy can add a nice touch planted along with your flowers. Make sure that your plants don%26#039;t dry out. They should be %26quot;watered until the water runs out the bottom of the pot. You should also fertilize your containers once a week all summer long (this includes hanging baskets).%26quot; Or you could use the type of fertilizer pellets that you only apply once %26amp; last for 3-4 months If you buy your plants already potted in a nusery, they may not need any extra fertilizer. Check to see if they already have fertilizer pellets in the soil. You can also add a water-retaining gel to a multi-purpose compost that will help keep your plants from drying out too quickly.

Tuberous begonias need to be hung in shady or partial-shady locations. Hanging begonias should also be protected from strong winds as much as possible.

Fuchsias will tolerate quite a lot of shade and will flower for up to nine months.

If you want masses of flower in full shade, Impatiens are an ideal choice. The double flowered forms look like miniature camellias.

If you use clay pots, make sure you soak it first before you put your plants in it. Otherwise, they could draw out the water away from your plants. Also, make sure your pots drain well so your plant%26#039;s roots don%26#039;t root. :

What flowers go well with Sunflowers?

My friend is having an August wedding and her favorite flower is a Sunflower. She wants sunflowers to be incorperated in her wedding...but what other flowers would go well with the Sunflowers? Her favorite colors are green, and she wants green in the wedding so I figure the stems of the sunflowers work. I just need to find other flowers that go well and won%26#039;t be over powering because we want the sunflowers to be the main focal point...aside from the bride of course!! Please help!!

What flowers go well with Sunflowers?
How about daisies?
Reply:Gerber daisies would be pretty. They come in a variety of colors, and they%26#039;re such happy little flowers!
Reply:That%26#039;s tough, since sunflowers are so substantial. The other flowers would also have to be quite sturdy - asters or zinnias, maybe.
Reply:I think cosmos will go well with sunflowers, they come in different colors and are long stemmed and have the same basic shape as a sunflower but smaller.
Reply:white or purple....there is a link below of a sunflower wedding bouqet
Reply:mini gerbers, bells of ireland, butter fly aster, matsumoto aster, fuji cremons, spider mums. i reccomend bells of ireland and lemon leaf to dress them up, butterfly aster and matsumoto aster to keep with a handpicked look.
Reply:maybe you could put perennials around the outsides of the sun flowers that would look gorgeous. or this link has a great boquet with them in it but i couldnt tell you what the other ones are called maybe you know:

Well............?

I went out with this guy over the weekend and it was absolutely perfect. Flowers, fancy dinner, walked around holding hands. It was really picture perfect. The problem is that I feel like hes too perfect for me. He has a good job, making good money, drives a bmw, enjoys fancy food, always looks put together, etc. Me on the other hand...I work as a waitress making minimum wage, my car doesn%26#039;t even have automatic windows, i eat fast food 99 perfent of the time, and I don%26#039;t always have time to put myself together.

Do you think this could get in the way of our relationship. Do you think he%26#039;ll expect me to live up to him or do I just feel like I need to?

Well............?
A guy can never be too perfect. Take advantage of it while you can. Those kind are hard to come by....
Reply:Get a few more dates under your belt first. Who knows, he may not be everything to you. The only thing you Will be committing to is another date at this point. Good luck
Reply:I think you are imagining problems. If everything was perfect then I don%26#039;t see the problem...it%26#039;s obvious he likes you the way you are...which is the sweetest thing ever! Just enjoy your relationship and fix the problems when there will be some real ones!
Reply:If it doesn%26#039;t bother him now it wont later! Besides if it did bother him he wouldn%26#039;t be worth having would he? That would be petty for someone to judge someone on what they have or don%26#039;t have, or how much money they have. He sounds like the dream guy! You better hold on to him! RandyCasino!
Reply:you are expecting the floor to disappear underneath you because things are going well for you. all i can say is....be yourself and dont worry about his expectations of you otherwise you wont enjoy yourself
Reply:Depends, If all he wants is sex then stay away. If he is nice to you and keeps asking you out without pressuring you for sex then you may have something going and may end up witha a BMW of your own.
Reply:No!!! He won%26#039;t expect you to be up there like him!! If he loves you he won%26#039;t expect anything. If he don%26#039;t love you then he%26#039;s probaly going to miss out on a lot with you. Cause your probaly a really great woman!!!
Reply:haven%26#039;t u ever herd dat oppisites attract duh!
Reply:It can work if y%26#039;all want it to work. No reason it shouldn%26#039;t unless he thinks he%26#039;s better than you or you have so many insecurities about yourself, that you sabatoge the relationship.

Why not try to have an open mind, and give it a shot if you like him. ☺
